What is a Design System, Really? (And Why You Desperately Need One)

Have you ever used a company’s website and thought it was sleek and intuitive, only to download their mobile app and feel like you entered a different universe? The colours are slightly off, the buttons look completely different, and you have to relearn how to navigate something as simple as the search bar. It’s jarring, right? It feels messy, disconnected & frankly, a little unprofessional. It makes you wonder if the teams building these products even talk to each other.
